Painting with Pixels

I have been painting and sketching since I was in my teens, and have produced some renderings that a few have said were exceptional.  However, it has been a few years since I seriously focused on it.  Work and daily habits/chores get in the way of being in a creative mood.  I felt as if I was missing something, sort of like when I produced some music with friends earlier this year.  On a whim I bought a 12" Cintiq pad, and activated a 30-day trial of Photoshop.

The bundled software was alright, but when I installed Photoshop and started using the painting tools I immediately saw my ideas come to life.  Then my drawing evolved into something else entirely.  It was as if I was watching the painting paint itself.  Using the Cintiq pad for the first time was a blast.  Once you calibrate it correctly, the controls are very close to actual pencil and paper, or brush and canvas.  Combine that with the awesome and endless tools in Photoshop and you can't go wrong.

Here is another painting I made of a sea shore by an island.

This painting makes me think of the beginning of our universe.
